A prayer from the Holy Father for peace

“Let us pray with one heart and one soul –

Lord come to our aid, grant us peace, teach us peace,
guide our steps in the way of peace.

Open our eyes and our hearts and give us the courage to say: Never again war.’

Lord Hear Us.”

“May the weapons be stopped: they will never lead to peace, and may the conflict not widen! Enough! Enough, brothers! In Gaza, let the wounded be rescued immediately, let civilians be protected, let far more humanitarian aid be allowed to reach that stricken population. May the hostages be freed, including the elderly and children. Every human being, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, of any people or religion, every human being is sacred, is precious in the eyes of God and has the right to live in peace. Let us not lose hope: let us pray and work tirelessly so that the sense of humanity may prevail over hardness of heart.”

In Jesus’ name. Amen

Journey into Prayer

An exploration of Prayer in 12 sessions

September 2024 – April 2025

What is the purpose of the course?

There are many different ways of praying but we tend to use the same tried and tested methods.

The course aims to give us a taste of a variety of ways of praying, not just by talking about them but giving us space to experience them. It might be like going into a sweet shop as a child seeing all the choices and tasting the old favourites and being brave enough to taste unfamiliar ones.

When and where do we meet?

We plan to meet about once a fortnight from 10 – 3pm on a Tuesday, at the Cenacle Convent, Tithebarn Grove, Lance Lane, L15 6TW. The dates of the course will be:

24th September; 1st, 15th and 29th October; 19th November; 3rd December; 21st January; 4th and 18th February; 4th and 18th March; 1st April

What is the cost of the course?

The cost will be £160.00 per person, which can be paid at every session, per term or as a one off, whatever suits you best.

Who are the leaders of the course?

The leaders will be Revd Karen Beck, Revd David Frudd and Sr Winnie Morley and we hope the ecumenical dimension of the team will be reflected in the participants.  The team are all Ignatian trained, practising Spiritual Directors and have experience of running training courses.

How do I apply?

Application forms are available from The Cenacle, (Journey into Prayer), address as above or by email to cenacleliverpool@gmail.com  Closing date for applications is Monday, 29th July 2024
