In the Pastoral Area of Southport and the Archdiocese of Liverpool
Walking in His Light - together

Listening has begun

Across the Archdiocese the listening phase for Synod 2020, our opportunity to shape the future of our Archdiocese, has begun. We want to make sure that we hear from you about your views on the 4 Synod questions which will inform the 'themes'  and later the proposals which will be voted on in October 2020. You can take part in a variety of ways and this is open to all, not just regular attendees at Mass. We really do want to hear from everyone.

Ways to get involved

1. Complete the online Synod2020 questionnaire at

2. Pick up a questionnaire from next to the Synod questionnaire return box at the back of Church/in the narthex.

3. For those who cannot attend Mass but want to have their say - please take them a copy of the questionnaire. If you are in the SVP or a Eucharistic Minister this is a fantastic opportunity to make sure that everyone's voice is heard.

4. If you belong to one (or more) of the Parish groups for example catechists, SVP, , minsters of the word, cleaners...get together, have a coffee and complete the questionnaire together. If you would like an organised meeting lead by one of the Parish Representatives please contact the Parish office.

5. Parish meetings.....Please feel free to attend either, they are open to all....Wednesday 12th June 7-8pm in the Marian Centre and Saturday 15th June 2-3pm at St. Patrick's

The deadline for the online questionnaire and return of hard copies to the 'return box' in Church is 30 June.

All responses to the questionnaire are confidential. If you have any queries about the process please contact the Parish office or speak with one of the Representatives - Mark Holmes, for St. Patrick's; Matthew Hurst (Pastoral Area) and Peter Moffat for St. Maries,

Synod Prayer

Father, we thank you for the love you have shown us in the gift of Jesus, your Son. We thank you for the gift of the Church, through which you show us that you are always with us and are always at work in our lives.

As we journey together to Synod 2020 help us to become the Church that you are calling us to be. May your Holy Spirit be powerfully at work among us. Strengthen each of us and guide Francis, our Pope and Malcolm our Archbishop.

Help us to respond to the challenges of our times in new ways to bring your love to all our sisters and brothers. We make this prayer through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
